I wanted a scale that was going to be very accurate, last a long time, and that I did not have to bend over to look at the weight. This is it. This is a very nice scale and the shipping and packaging were excellent. The only thing wrong was that the scale would stick. I read the instructions and it was a minor adjustment that fixed this problem. Now all I have to do is fix the number of pounds displayed….thats a little bit harder….:)

This balance scale is easy to setup and operate. It works just like in the doctor’s office, and the height measurement is perfect as well. I like the repeatability of the scale versus my bathroom scale. I can weigh even light things, even less than a pound by first balancing my own weight then adding the item I want to weigh. The only issue I had was that I had to find an area of the house where I don’t have carpet. The scale comes with extra counter weights for heavy weights, but I don’t expect to use them. The maximum weight measurement without the additional counter weights is 350 pounds. It never needs batteries and probably will never wear out. Zero adjustment is never needed, but it is very easy to do.
Love it-but description was misleading

The box came and it was quite large, about 6 lb long! I opened it and there were 2 main pieces and a little bag with a wrench (looks like a bracket) and 4 nuts. The descriptions said it came with casters but there were none in the box. I took the pieces upstairs one at a time because total it weighs about 40 lbs. It went together easily except putting on the nuts was a little difficult. I have fumble fingers trying to get the nut lined up with the threads of the screw so I wouldn’t strip it. Just four nuts and you pull the little metal hook on the inside of the pillar and attach it to a hole on the base and that was it. It said to have a hard level floor to put it on and our floor slopes a bit (old house) so I shimmed a piece of plywood level and set it on that. It is super accurate. I weighed myself 3 times in a row and got the same weight. I’m really happy with the scale and it isn’t that heavy that I needed the casters anyway since I have a permanent place for it. I purchased mine from the Wholesale Point, Inc (through Amazon.com) and the second business day it was shipped and it arrived 2 days later. We are 3 states away. I thought it would be a few weeks to get the scale but I got it within a week of ordering. I’m very happy!

Setup was straight forward, they even supplied an adequate tool to tighten the 4 nuts.
Tiny tweak of adjustment screw then zeroed the scale.
Packaging box was a bit beat up, but shaped Styrofoam protected the content.
Very satisfied.

Could not get it back in the box well enough to meet the shipping store’s “packed properly” requirement.
Very large box, impossible to reassemble without photos or instructions.
Cost of having the shipping store box it and ship it greater than cost of the product.
Went straight to the trash, never used.

Poor Quality

I purchased this scale and when it came it had parts broken and could not be used. I returned it and tried a second one. This one came with only two straps holding the box closed. The box had previously been opened. When we put it together and tried to adjust the screw to balance it to zero, it would not worked. We could not get the balance beam to work at all. Since this was the second one we tried, we asked for a refund. Amazon was very prompt in giving us the refund, so I will definitely buy from them again, just not another scale.

As always Amazon delivers speedy service. We received our scale within a couple of days and it was damaged from the warehouse, we called and it was picked up immediately and a perfect replacement sent. This one is perfect and very accurate.

I decided to make this purchase after digital scale after digital scale gave inconsistent readings and quit working after a few months. I wanted a scale that would be accurate everytime and be around for years. This is definitely it. It is big like the doctor’s office scales, so won’t go in most bathrooms (it is not pretty anyway). I rated it a 4 out of 5 because the mechanism was bound up when we got it and had to figure out why it would not work. I good pull while I was standing on it freed it up. The hole where the scale needle goes through is a little bent, but works ok. Not bad enough to send back.
Assembly Problem

Apparently during shipping, the mechanism inside the vertical column was jammed so that one could not connect that mechanism to the base. After several conversations with technical support persons who were very familiar with the scale, I finally got the mechanism freed and hooked up. When using this scale, one must stand very far forward to the point that the toes are hanging over the front edge of the platform. I just can’t believe that this scale is of the same quality as similar models of this brand found in your Family doc’s office. I began to wonder if the scale wasn’t a Chinese knock off product. But is seems to be fairly accurate in that a 50 pound dumbbell weighs in at 50.5 pounds. Not worth returning for these issues. I just wouldn’t buy it knowing what I know now.

I’ve used this scale in hotels and gyms across the country without problems. However, the one delivered to my door did not work at all. As in completely broken. The assembly instructions direct you to a company that no longer exists; that recording directs you to a vendor that can only suggest you return it.
It was the first item I’ve ever returned from Amazon.

Most scales (especially digital ones) I’ve used in the past can vastly different readings when used to weight myself within a 10 minute period. This scale gives the same, accurate weight every time that you step on it.
Assembly was very simple.
1) Attach the base to the upright stand with four screws at the bottom of the base
2) Attach a cable from the stand to the base
3) Attach the height rod and tighten two screws which are already mounted.
In total, it took about 10-15 minutes to un-package and build.
Would highly recommend if you are looking for an accurate scale.

Very dis-appointed. I can’t tell you whether the product even works because the first scale that came in had a manufacturer defect in that the balance beam was off center rendering the whole unit worthless. The second order came in just yesterday and the entire balance beam unit was completely sheered off of the base. After closer examination I realized that it was all due to cheap manufacturing, improper packing, and yes probably the way UPS handles the items during shipping. In this case 2 strikes and you are out. I am asking for a full refund, also realizing that it is not really Amazon’s fault, but it should be known that they should really not deal with that particular Manufacturer any more. This caused some major inconvenience to a pretty good way of shopping. Other Items I have purchased from Amazon were fine! I hope Amazon takes heed to this message!

After 1 month of trying to dig thru all the propaganda, and find a quality, affordable scale, After reading hundreds of forums, I came to the conclusion that the 402kl by health-o-meter was what I was looking for (However let it be known that the professional models were bought out and now made by sunbeam corp.) I received my scale in the mail promptly, 3 days of ordering , put it together without to much difficulty, but found that the balance beam kept hitting the forward and aft part of the eye(where the needle is), I called my friend over who has an older model, it took us 2 hours adjusting it trying to get it to float free. I found that for the next 7 days, every time i weighed in I had to adjust it(the counter weight), this is not what I had read about! every forum I had read said they put it together and it was good to go! “aaahhhhg-of course” I would be the one in a million with the lemon. I called the company that sent it, I was expecting and prepared for a battle, but to my surprise, they took my information, arranged for ups to pick up the old one, had the new one in 3 days, put it together, it was dead accurate right out of the box. I was shocked, what customer service, and the product is great. this very same scale at local medical supplies is double the price. so if your looking for a quality , affordable, and safe model(safe meaning your not screwed if theres a problem). then this is it!

I thought my old spring scale was accurate. It was still more accurate than the digitals, those I tested were all over the place and could rarely give me the same reading twice. Anyhow, every time I went to the doctor’s office, it showed me 4 lbs heavier than my scale. Ordered my weight and beam Healthometer, and sure enough it showed me 4 lbs heavier than the old spring scale. Oh well, now I know I’ve got a scale I can count on for accuracy. By the way, Wholesale Point shipped this out super quick! Ordered on a Sunday, they shipped on Tuesday and I got it the next day! Man, they are quick! Took three minutes to assemble. I didn’t order the wheel kit, it’s not really needed, but maybe elderly or some women would prefer that. I won’t be moving it much to begin with, but certainly no problem to do so without the wheel kit. I’ve always wanted one of these scales, and couldn’t be happier! Thanks again Wholesale Point for a great product at a very reasonable price! Five stars from me for the product and company!

While some of the negative reviews indicated that there was a quality problem with this product – I went ahead and purchased anyway. I’m very happy – the product is very clean, well designed, and goes together easily. The product arrived in great shape. We use it in an office with dozens of people using it regularly – and we have no problem with the product. It gives repeatable and accurate results over a long period of time.

Aside from the separate counterweight that is likely lost by now, I regard the scale as a good purchase. The counterweight isn’t required in most cases anyway, frankly, I have forgotten what it was for. The scale is accurate, relatively easy to set up and requires little to no maintenance. I am pleased with the purchase.

Well, it’s just a scale but it weighs things (like myself) perfectly!! My only gripe was that the “instructions” that came with it were completely useless. I had better luck just figuring out how to put it together by close examination. I can’t think of a better scale for the money, and I can’t imagine this thing not outliving me.

Lousy instructions

Mine came with a big tear in the box. Usually that is a bad sign but evrything seemed intact. The instructions are lousy, they should blow up the connections on the bottom with the hook assembly. Also mine had no instructions for the height bar. I still don’t know how the bar works, although I figured out how to put it on. The height bar stops at 46.5 inches, then you have to pull up the rest of the bar and the numbers do not continue, you have to make a calculation to figure your height. The assembly was tricky but I got it done in aout 20 minutes. If the instructions were better it would have taken less time. Had a hard time adjusting the counter screw but i finally got my weight to show accurately.
